FL – Broward – City of Sunrise

about

In 1973, I was elected Senior Class President at South Broward High School and also founded and led the school's Sports Car Club. Following my high school years, I began my law enforcement career in 1974 in the City of Sunrise. Over the next seven years, I honed my skills and gained valuable experience, eventually joining the Broward County Sheriff's Department in 1981. During my tenure with the department, I had the privilege of serving in various units including road patrol, the motorcycle unit, the Chief of Police anti-racketeering unit, the gang task force unit, the S.T.O.P. unit, the auto theft unit, and the juvenile truancy unit. One of my proudest accomplishments was playing a key role in the formation of the Juvenile Truancy unit, which helped decrease home burglaries in the area by picking up truants. My dedication and commitment to the job earned me recognition and several awards, including a full pension and benefits after 30 years of service. Outside of my law enforcement career, I have been actively involved in volunteering and serving in various capacities. Since 1996, I have been a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale, serving in the Christmas pageant and later as a lead security agent for the pastor and his family. I have also been a volunteer at the Make-A-Wish Foundation since 2004, as well as volunteering at the Broward County Humane Society and serving as a greeter at Calvary Chapel church. I am a proud member of The Hundred Club, an organization that assists the families of fallen firefighters and law enforcement officers. In addition to my professional and volunteer work, I take pride in being a good neighbor and have always been there for my son Jeffrey, who has grown up to be a respectful and successful individual, now serving as a pastor. Throughout my life, I have found fulfillment in serving others and staying true to my values and beliefs. My journey has been one of dedication, hard work, and a commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those around me.
