In 1996, I became a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Lauderdale. I served in the Christmas pageant for two years and later became a volunteer in their security team. Within weeks, I was appointed as the lead security agent for the pastor and his family. Additionally, I have been a volunteer at the Make-A-Wish Foundation since around 2004, starting with a child named Austin Farmer whom I still keep in touch with to this day. For the past five years, I have been volunteering at the Broward County Humane Society. Along with two friends, I started a security group which has now grown to a five-man unit. During my time volunteering, I have taken the initiative to mentor court-ordered volunteers by guiding them towards a brighter future through open conversations about their experiences and aspirations. Since 2017, I have been a member of The Hundred Club, an organization that supports the families of fallen firefighters and law enforcement officers. Currently, I am a weekly attendee at Calvary Chapel church where I serve as a greeter at the door entrance. Before my injuries, I used to be a good neighbor by helping out with tasks such as cutting lawns and cleaning pools for neighbors in need. One of my proudest accomplishments is my son Jeffrey, who was raised to be polite and a gentleman despite my demanding job at the sheriff's office. He received scholarships to college, got married, and now serves as a pastor with three wonderful children. In my journey towards finding inner peace and serving our Creator, God, I cherish the memories of serving others and making a positive impact in my community.
